Trading with the indicator
One of the many ways to use this indicator is to wait for the onset of the preset volatility (the green bars in the indicator), then assess how the market has developed up to this point (on the chart below the market was going down - the development before the red vertical line) and finally, if it was going down, enter long and vice versa.
