Shares in France trended downwards on Monday following closing, primarily driven by losses in the Technology, Consumer Goods, and Utilities sectors. At the end of trading in Paris, the CAC 40 had seen a decline of 0.03%, while the SBF 120 index similarly fell by 0.01%.

Market Winners and Losers

On the brighter side, the leading performers on the CAC 40 were Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA who enjoyed a 0.79% rise to end at 66.63, along with Airbus Group SE, up by 0.66% to 139.44, and Vinci SA, which also saw an increase of 0.65% to 114.38. However, not all shared in this success - Hermes International SCA saw a significant drop of 2.56% to 1,941.20, along with Teleperformance SE, down by 1.98% to 133.35, and Alstom SA, which declined by 1.72% to 12.01.

Performance of the SBF 120

Within the SBF 120, the session's top performers were Nexity, which surged by 10.75% to 17.21, Eutelsat Communications SA, advancing by 3.86% to 4.36, and Orpea SA, which remained steady as it closed at 0.02. In contrast, the worst performers included CGG SA, which decreased by 2.66% to 0.58, Hermes International SCA, down by 2.56% to 1,941.20, and Teleperformance SE, closing at 133.35, down by 1.98%.

volatility and Commodities Overview

The implied volatility of the CAC 40 VIX remained steady, recording a new 52-week high at 18.96. On the commodities front, the Gold Futures for February delivery went up by 0.64% to $2,064.50 an ounce, whilst February delivery Crude oil fell by 0.54% to $73.49 a barrel, with the March Brent oil contract also recording a decline of 0.26% to trade at $78.80 a barrel.

Currency Market Movement

In the currency market, the EUR/USD remained unchanged at 1.10, along with an unchanged rate for the EUR/GBP at 0.87. The U.S Dollar Index futures saw a decrease of 0.12%, settling at 101.36.
